My Tumblr | My SKETCH Tumblr
After the first term of my senior year in college ended, I asked myself, "What is it that I want to do before I graduate?"
It was a bit of a rhetorical question for me, since I knew there was one thing I promised myself to do the year before: study abroad. I wanted to experience something new, something different that enclosed classrooms and powerpoint lectures could not offer. After doing some research on the study programs offered at my school, I was convinced to study abroad in Japan. I grew up reading and watching manga and anime; learning about about the culture in which these popular media came from would be a dream.
Growing up in the US, I never had the experience of traveling overseas. I would be the first to study abroad in my family, but I wasn't too concerned about that. What I was really worried about was the costs.
How was I going to finance my studies?
To find out, please read my story on my journal, Why You Should Do What You Love.
I hope this read will inspire you to do what you love, despite financial setbacks.

About this photo:
My friend from Japan, who I met in the US, graciously bought me a round trip bullet train ticket from Tokyo to Nagoya when I visited her in Tokyo before and after my study abroad in Okazaki (which is fairly close to Nagoya). This is a picture of the bullet train at Tokyo Station before I boarded (and almost missed!) It was SOOOO fast!
